To date, this winter had been very bad for the pet population of our household. In March, our beloved cat Amelia died from a very fast growing tumor. We had had Amelia and Farley for 6 years to the day that she died.
In the following weeks, Farley our other cat needed more attention and just wasn't himself. Also Farley had never really adjusted to Anders so the loss of his sister left him even more upset. Two weeks after we lost Amelia, Farley disappeared. He is really an indoor cat but he likes to sneak out when our arms are full. Usually he just ran to the front porch and sat on the banister but the morning he disappeared we could not find him. He wore a collar with his name, our address and phone number. We left notices around our neighorhood, in the paper, on Craig's list, and on the development website. We got some calls but none were actually Farley.
Well, amazingly six weeks later, the story has a good ending. On Tuesday night about 9 o'clock I got a call that someone had found Farley on her porch. He was really skinny and starved for attention so she thought he might be missing. She called and we went right over to pick him up from her house. He knew us right away and was so happy. He seems thrilled to be home and definately wants as much attention as possible. The first night he slept on my chest all night. The next morning he even let Anders pet him. He played fetch and brought the toy mouse to Anders...definately a change in heart. He is super skinny less than half what he weighed when he left. He is now only about 5 1/2 pounds. He was gone 40 days and we have no idea where. His fur is in good shape and he has no injuries. Amazing.
We are in Geneva but Andy is home keeping him company. He is going to get one of those microchips carrying owner info soon. These are some pictures of him from the other night after his return.

This is wonderful news! I am so happy Farley came home, as are Elvis and Audrey.
I am really happy to hear it too.
What a great ending. Welcome home Farley! I don't know what I would do if Capers dissapeared.
I highly recommend the micro chips, both Nola and Capers have them and they were the main reason so many of the Katrina pets found their owners.
