Hosmer's obituary appeared in the paper today. You can see a ton of photos on flickr. Here's a sample.

Lost
What does everyone think about Lost?
I really think its been good this season. Back to the nameless dread of season one. Even the really sappy conversations between Jin and Sun this week didn't turn me off, they were always among my favorite characters so I have a high tolerance.

Oswego
Frank and I flew up to Oswego on Thursday morning to see Hosmer. We almost missed the plane though we were sitting right next to the gate drinking coffee and juice in the sports bar at the jetBlue terminal. Dad seems relatively comfortable and is being well cared for in the Intensive Care Unit. Marc arrived late Thursday night, Kate yesterday in the early afternoon. Beers have been consumed at Greene's on breaks from the hospital when Hosmer is sleeping.
A major blizzard has hit, we are waiting to see who will be able to make it here today.

Brain Dead
I've been feeling too brain dead to write anything insightful and coherent. But for anyone concerned about the minutia of my life, here is a sampling of what I have done in the last week:
Eaten buffalo stew.
Finally seen Juno. Which, despite a little squeemishness about the teenage pregnancy plot, I loved. At the end I cried sort of uncontrollably and then ran out and bought the soundtrack, to which I have been listening to obsessively ever since.
Started to write a talk about Sarah Winnemucca, which I need to finish tonight, as I need to give it tomorrow at the opening ceremonies of BCC women's history month.
Celebrated my fifth anniversary with Neilson by eating pizza at John's, site of our first date.
Become obsessed with In Treatment. It sounded so annoying, but now I can't get enough. (Note--Matt F. and I have been having Facebook conversations about HBO shows. He likes it too.)
Been concerned about the use of human hair as a trim on Project Runway.
Explored the awesome beer section at the new Whole Foods on Houston Street and bought a 6-pack of Blue Point Brewing Company Toasted Lager for $7.00.
Learned that Whole Foods yogurt is just about as good as Stonybook, and significantly cheaper. (You know you live in Manhattan when Whole Foods is where you go to bargain shop.)
Started to watch Prime Suspect I. Having finished Slings and Arrows, its nice to have a nice long series to look forward to watching.
Bought a ticket to go to Denver over Easter weekend. (Skiing, chocolate, Anders, Grand Mary, Ezra--what more could a girl want.)
And now for a few gratuitous kitty pictures.

Geneva-2-Denver Road Trip -- Days 3-5 and Voila, we're here!
Anders in his "dudes" -- March 1, 2008
Chicago was terrific -- we had a great room and a huge day Tuesday, with a movie, an early dinner at Joe's Stone Crab, and then Jersey Boys (click on the Video tab for a preview). Grandmary really loved this show -- almost all those Four Seasons songs have become part of pop DNA. Lots of nostalgia and lots of energy and tremendous entertainment.
The next three days were pretty quiet -- West Des Moines (the middle of NOWHERE!!!! -- it makes you wonder how Laura Ingalls and family ever survived), North Platte Nebraska, and finally home in Denver on Friday by 1 pm. The picture on the left tells the Nebraska story.
We drove just a little under 1700 miles, averaging about 350-400 miles a day. The following pictures show why this was a good thing to do -- it was 80 degrees here today (!) and Grandmary, Anders and I were outside all afternoon.
The video above -- 3 pm Saturday -- Anders is in sand-box world and Mom is talking to Barb in New Hampshire on her birthday. We even had a tea party, as Mom tells Barb on the call.
Just to complete the Colorado story, the temperature had dropped 50 degrees by 5 am Sunday and we had six inches of blowing snow and lots of road closures, so the taste of Spring was short lived, but a good harbinger of things to come.
Remember -- next weekend is Spring forward, Fall back!
