I feel so bad for the runners in the Chicago Marathon yesterday, which was called off because of heat-related issues. I would have been pretty angry if I had had to stop running after 4 four hours last year. (Kym, Molly, Eric--how hot will it be in Houston?)
Also, has anyone heard anything about Run, Fat Boy, Run, a romantic comedy with a marathon theme.

It shouldn't be that bad in Houston in January. It is the only time of year they can stage a marathon, at least that is my guess. I was thinking the same thing about the Chicago marathon. I would have been really angry. Are they refunding people's entry fees?
Now I will have to hear from everyone about how I shouldn't run marathons because they are bad for me. It will be annoying. I already get enough of that. Why is it considered rude to tell people that they should exercise because being overweight is bad for their health but those same people feel free to tell me that I exercise too much and will ruin my knees, back, heart, etc.?
I heard on the news this morning that the race organizers are blaming the runners for the lack of water and cups, saying the runners were pouring the water over their heads. I believe that is a pretty common practice on a hot day and should have been taken into consideration in the race planning, when they saw how hot it might get. Sounds like they are taking some cues from the Bush administration.
