Geneva-2-Denver Road Trip -- Days 3-5 and Voila, we're here!

Anders in his "dudes" -- March 1, 2008

Chicago was terrific -- we had a great room and a huge day Tuesday, with a movie, an early dinner at Joe's Stone Crab, and then Jersey Boys (click on the Video tab for a preview). Grandmary really loved this show -- almost all those Four Seasons songs have become part of pop DNA. Lots of nostalgia and lots of energy and tremendous entertainment.

The next three days were pretty quiet -- West Des Moines (the middle of NOWHERE!!!! -- it makes you wonder how Laura Ingalls and family ever survived), North Platte Nebraska, and finally home in Denver on Friday by 1 pm. The picture on the left tells the Nebraska story.

We drove just a little under 1700 miles, averaging about 350-400 miles a day. The following pictures show why this was a good thing to do -- it was 80 degrees here today (!) and Grandmary, Anders and I were outside all afternoon.

The video above -- 3 pm Saturday -- Anders is in sand-box world and Mom is talking to Barb in New Hampshire on her birthday. We even had a tea party, as Mom tells Barb on the call.

Just to complete the Colorado story, the temperature had dropped 50 degrees by 5 am Sunday and we had six inches of blowing snow and lots of road closures, so the taste of Spring was short lived, but a good harbinger of things to come.

Remember -- next weekend is Spring forward, Fall back!

That looks like a fun time in the back yard. Is Ezra happy to have a crowd?
