Journey into Mohawk Country
While I was away, my story on the graphic novel Journey in Mohawk Country appeared in PW Comics Week. The book is the illustrated edition of a literal translation of the journal of the Dutch trader Harmen Meyndertsz von den Bogaert, who in 1634 traveled from Fort Orange (present-day Albany) with two companions deep into Mohawk Indian territory to forge a new trade agreement for beaver pelts on behalf of the Dutch West India Company. It was a real joy to work on this story, as I loved the book and, in addition, both the author George O'Connor and the editor Mark Siegel were passionate about the project in a way that was inspiring. Also, anything that makes attempts to make history appealing and accessible is ok in my book.
