Sunday, July 30

In the morning we visited the Cathedral and the famous flea market in the historic San Telmo neighborhood, where I bought two lovely vintage necklaces. For lunch, we ate a huge meal-including a potato omlette, sausage, grilled red peppers, and marinated white beans, and a liter of beer--for a grand total of about 8 dollars. Afterwards, we took a long walk across the city to the Evita Museum, stopping along the way to bond with the "wild" cats who live in the Bontanic Garden. (They didn't seem too wild to us--in fact, they craved human attention, as the pictures attest.) The Evita Museum's highlights included seeing her beautiful clothes and learning about her work for female suffrage, although it definately put a pretty positive gloss on her behavior. For dinner, we had our first Argentine pizza and wine, both of which were delicious.
