On Monday, after a night in the charming but chilly Hotel Colonial, we headed back to Argentina. I have to say, the border between Uruguay and Argentina seems pretty loose--immigration did glance at our passports, but we were waved through customs. Neilson was feeling a little under the weather, so he took a hot bath and short nap while I went to an interesting exhibit about Art Deco and the 1920s in Buenos Aires at the Museo de la Ciudad (Mueum of the City). I met back up with Neilson, who was feeling better. After some delicious empanadas at the Relax Cafe (the Argentine version of a New York coffee shop), we went to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (National Museum of Fine Arts). The museum has art from all over the world, but I really enjoyed the exhibit of Argentine Art--it was fascinating to see how the major art movements of the past two centuries played out in that country. We then strolled through Palermo, a hip neighborhood that seems to be the SoHo of Buenos Aires, full of boutiques and restaurants featuring cuisine from around the world. I bought a cute shirt from a little shop, then we went to, of all things, a Japanese restaurant. (You'll see the shirt in the pictures from the wedding.)
